I got very good at the doing. Somewhere in there, I lost the thread of what I actually wanted.
For over eleven years, real estate was my world. My husband and I started investing and building a portfolio. Then I got my license, joined The CityLiving Group, and became a partner on one of Nashville's top-producing teams, the kind closing somewhere between $144M and $200M a year. I understood strategy. I understood execution. I knew how to build momentum, and how to help other people build it too.
From the outside, it looked handled.
But I kept hitting the same wall, and I watched the people around me hit it too. All that external success, and underneath it was the quieter stuff nobody puts on a vision board: burnout, limiting beliefs, the strange distance between knowing exactly what to do and actually doing it. I was moving a hundred miles an hour, and somewhere in the noise I'd lost the thread of what I actually wanted.
So I went looking.
I started exploring the work most high-achievers tend to avoid. Nervous system regulation. Somatic practices. The quiet stories we tell ourselves that end up running the whole show. After one deep retreat, I had what I can only describe as a spiritual awakening, and believe me, I never expected to say those words out loud. The integration work that followed didn't turn my life into all love and light. It gave me something more useful: a grounded way to live that didn't ask me to stop being ambitious, only to stop being at war with myself.
That's where everything I do now began.
What "Ask Deborah" actually means
It was never an invitation to ask me for the answers. I'm not a guru, and I'd be wary of anyone who wanted to be one. The point is the opposite. It's getting quiet enough, and clear enough, that you can ask your own highest self and finally hear what it's been trying to tell you.
That's what the Center Methodology is built to do, across three pillars. The Mirror: where are you, really. The Vision: where are you actually going. Find Your Center: what you're carrying that's slowing you down. Clarity first. Everything else follows.
What I do now
I work with people who are very good at achieving and have quietly lost touch with what they're achieving for. I bring both halves of my own story to it: the strategy I built across two decades of high-stakes execution, and the inner work that finally made that strategy stick.
And I still practice what I teach. I'm still a partner at The CityLiving Group, so I know the pressure of real performance firsthand. None of this is theory I picked up in a book. It's the way I had to learn to live.
Most coaches hand you a plan. Most of the inner-work world hands you a feeling. I care about integration over inspiration, because a plan you can't follow and a feeling that's gone by Monday both leave you exactly where you started.
If you've been circling something you can't quite name, that's usually the sign it's time to get clear on it. Here's where we can do that work together.
Is this you?
You've built a career, a life, a reputation. By almost every measure, you've arrived. And then something cracked open. A retreat. A loss. A quiet realization you couldn't shake.
Whatever it was, you came back different, and the old way of operating stopped feeling like enough. You're not in crisis. You're in transition. And the gap between who you've been and who you're becoming is exactly the territory we work in together.
